B.Sc Nautical Science

Approved by The Directorate General of Shipping,Government of India. Leading to Second Mate’s Foreign-Going Certificate of Competency awarded by the D.G. Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Government of India after twelve months of Sea Service. This enables the cadets to become Navigating Officers on board Merchant Navy Ships worldwide.

Course Duration: 3 years or 6 semesters residential course.

Eligibility:
A pass in Plus-two (12th Standard) or its equivalent, with minimum 60% aggregate in Maths, Physics and Chemistry group and at least 50% marks in English

Age Limit:
Below 25 years at the time of commencement of the course

Physical Standards:
Medically fit as per the standards set by M. S. Medical Examination Rules, 2000.

Diploma Nautical Science (DNS) – Deck Cadet Course (1 year)
1 Year Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) leading to BSc Nautical Science DG Shipping approved, Govt. of India. On successful completion of this course the trainees can join as a NAUTICAL TRAINEE CADET on board a ship (Indian / Foreign Shipping Companies). With further sea service and post sea training program, the nautical cadets can appear for the second mate examination. After passing they will be joining as navigational watch keeping officer as second mate onboard a ship. With further sea service, they will be promoted to CHIEF OFFICER & then MASTER (Captain) of the ship.

Eligibility:

  • Candidate should have Passed in (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 55% or
  • Candidate possessing B.E./B. Tech. Degree from I.I.T or from a college recognized by AICTE

Age Limit:
Below 25 years at the time of commencement of the course

Physical Standards:
Medically fit as per the standards set by M. S. Medical Examination Rules, 2000.

General Purpose Rating (GP) – 6 months

The duration of the Pre-Sea Training Course For General Purpose Ratings is 6 months. The course is fully residential as per the Directorate General of Shipping norms, requiring all the trainees to reside in-house. The course will cover all aspects of the sea-faring profession (Deck and Engine), which also include swimming, physical drills, workshop training, rope and mast climbing, life saving, fire fighting exercises and ship visits etc. Pre Sea Training for Ratings will also include the, following basic STCW 95 courses

  • Personal Survival Techniques (PST)
  • Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR
  • Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FPFF).
  • Elementary First Aid (EFA).
  • Oil Tanker Familiarisation (OTFC).

B.Tech (Naval Architecture) – 4 years

Naval Architects :

Naval architect is a professional engineer who is responsible for the design, construction, ship building and repair of ships.

Naval Architecture is a widely job oriented area but the fact is that the number of institutions catering to this course of study is limited. As shipping is becoming more and more commercially important, more efficiently designed ships are the need of the hour .It is here that the chances for a new comer in the area of Naval Architecture/Ship Building look bright. Ships (tankers, cargo ships, passenger liners, ferries; warships), boats, submarines, high-speed crafts, Oil rigs, hover crafts and all structures related to ship building are to be designed by Naval Architects & Ship Building Engineers. They also work on the design and construction of marine installations such as off-shore drilling platforms.

On completion of B.Tech (NA & SB) Course, the graduates can further study the M.Tech (NA & SB) Courses, Ph.D & Research programmes. Job Opportunities : There are wide Job Opportunities at Present in the International Ship Construction Yards especially, at Korea, Japan & India. Etc.,

Maritime Catering 06 months.

On successful completion of this course the trainees can board a ship (Indian / Foreign Shipping Companies). With further sea service and post sea training program, the cadets can appear for the second mate examination. After passing they will be joining as navigational watch keeping officer as second mate onboard a ship. With further sea service, they will be promoted to CHIEF OFFICER & then MASTER (Captain) of the ship.

Eligibility:
The candidate should have obtained 40% marks in english language at 10th or 12th std or in a degree course conducted by recognized board or any university.

Higher national diploma in nautical science Through integrated professional training and undergraduate studies, this Higher National Diploma course provides an opportunity to enter industry as a qualified Mercantile Marine Officer combined with proven academic ability. The programme comprises of academic and vocational studies for 2 years plus 15 months of practical training onboard ships

Eligibility Criteria:
Educational qualification: Minimum education required is 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and minimum 50% marks in English. The candidate will have to appear in IELTS examination for English proficiency with minimum score of 5.5.

Age :
Age preferably not more than 25 years on the day of commencement of the course.

Medical Fitness :
Candidate should be physically fit for sea service under standard norms, with eyesight 6/6, without external aids and with no colour blindness.

  • Higher National Diploma In Marine Engineering

This programme is designed for those seeking qualification as a Marine Engineer
. The programme comprises of academic and vocational studies for 2 years plus 6 months of practical training onboard ships.

The 2-year studies will be undertaken at two venues :

Phase 1 : 39 weeks at IMI campus at Greater Noida studying HND units
Phase 2 : 39 weeks at Glasgow College of Nautical Studies, Glasgow (UK), studying HND units to qualify for the award of a HND in Marine Engineering.
Phase 3 : 6 months of sea service to qualify for entry to the MCA 4.
Class 4 Certificates of Competency (Marine Engineering Officer)
examination. Success in the HND will qualify for exemption from all academic subjects of the class 2 and class 1 Certificates of Competency.

Age :
Age preferably not more than 25 years on the day of commencement of the course.

Medical Fitness :
